Arbitration Corner – news from the CIArb YMG

This month the CIArb YMG takes a look back at recent events

As part of a series of events focusing on international arbitration in the lead up to ICCA 2020, we teamed up with Young ICCA and the Scottish Arbitration Centre to provide an interactive workshop on cross-examination on 30 May.  The event was a great success with practitioners and participants travelling from around the world to offer their skills and insight as to the key ingredients for a successful cross examination.   The session was opened by CIArb YMG committee member Fiona Menzies (Scottish Arbitration Centre) with the first session led by Gloria Alvarez (Young ICCA) with panel members Erica Stein, Alexis Martinez and Dipen Sabharwal giving their top tips.  We then went into an interactive “mock” cross examination session which was well received by all participants.

International arbitration from the perspective of an expert witness, 6 June 2019, HKA Offices, Glasgow
The second in our series of international arbitration events, Doug Neville and Martin Campbell of HKA gave a practical insight into the realm of international arbitration from the perspective of an expert witness.  Drawing on their combined experience preparing and giving expert evidence for tribunals in the Middle East and Asia, they were able to give practical insight and top tips for experts and those instructing them.

We had a great attendance and look forward to our future internationally focused events!
